SPSS Installation and Licensing (New/Renew)
This article will help you download, install, and license SPSS.
If you already have SPSS installed and need to renew the license, skip to the License section.
NOTE - Mac Sonoma (OS 14.0 or newer)
If you are running a Mac with Sonoma (version 14.0 or newer) you will need to install version 29.0.1.0 and the update to 29.0.1.1.
You will see the links to both and the appropriate license key for version 29 below.
FYI The update (29.0.1.1) has special instructions (see the bottom of the article)

- Choose the link that corresponds to your Operating System
- Save the file (if needed)

(you will need to sign in with your DMU account to download)
Install:
- Double Click executable file (SPSS_64). SPSS will start the installation.
- The install wizard will walk you through the steps needed.
- If you would like to install the Python or JAWS add-ins, check those boxes and proceed.
- Click Finish when done.
License:
Active a New installation or Renew a current Install.
- Open the License Authorization Wizard. (This may open automatically after installing).
- Select Authorized User and click NEXT
- Enter/Add the current license/authorization code

Follow the remaining prompts. You should see a message that the product is licensed (green text).
29.0.1.1 Update Instructions (MacOS 14.0 or newer only)
1. Close all instances of SPSS 29 Desktop
2. Navigate to the ../lib subdirectory in the Statistics 29 Desktop installation path.
(e.g. "/Applications/IBM SPSS Statistics/SPSS Statistics.app/Contents/lib/")
NOTE: To see the path, two-finger click the SPSS Statistics. application icon select "Show Package Contents"
3. Locate the following file and back it up to a separate folder, such as your Desktop.
"libplatdep.dylib"
4. Copy the following interim fix file to the same folder used in Step 3.
"libplatdep.dylib"
5. Make sure the installed files have correct permissions (e.g. chmod 755)
(you can "right-click" and choose Get Info. Ensure it has the same permissions as the original file you backed up in Step 3)
