Post Graduation Accounts and Access

Some resources from ITS and/or resources provided by other departments may be limited or discontinued prior to account deactivation. If you have any questions, please reach out to the relevant department.
Note: If you are in possession of a University issued computer. Contact the Solutions Hub for information regarding transfer of ownership.
ITS Resources Terminating June 30th of your graduation year:
- Campus wireless network permissions will end. You can continue to use the Guest networks on campus.
- Campus printers and printing accounts will be valid until June 30, 2025. At that time all remaining balances will be forfeit.
- Learning Management System - Desire2Learn - access will end. Any requests for course materials should be directed to your academic program.
Student Account Deactivation, June 30th of the following year:
Effective June 30th of the year following your graduation your student University accounts will be deactivated. At that time, all access to DMU resources using University accounts will end. This includes, but is not limited to, DMU email addresses and mailboxes, Pulse, and items listed below:
- Office 365 licenses for Office applications (web and desktop).
- Access to student OneDrive storage
- Access to Pulse, Colleague Self Service, and other administrative websites
Exception: Your account will not be deactivated if you are graduating from a program but are still enrolled in and/or are entering another program before June 30th of the following year.

I have important emails in my DMU mailbox, what do I need to do to keep them?
A couple common options are:
- You can forward them to a personal mailbox
- Export/Save them to PDFs
I have accounts with companies or services that use my DMU email address as the login. What should I do?
Login to each service and see if changing your email account is an option. If you have trouble you will need to contact their support for assistance.
I have files/notebooks in OneDrive. How can I export them?
It is important that you export or copy any files and notebooks you have saved to OneDrive for Business through Des Moines University before your account is deactivated. Until then you can use the storage as normal.
There are a few ways to export or migrate your OneDrive contents. Refer to Student OneDrive Export Options in the attached graduation packet (updated for 2024).
Will I continue to have access to Library resources?
The Library has stated that Alumni do not have access to any electronic Library resources and/or databases.
Any questions regarding Library resources should be directed to the Library at Library@dmu.edu.
Will I still be able to obtain my 1098T or other tax forms?
Your account will still be active by the time you need your 1098 Tax form. You can the obtain the form in Colleague Self Service.
- Go to Pulse (pulse.dmu.edu) > click Quick Links > then Colleague Self Service.
- Questions regarding tax forms can be directed to the Accounting department (515) 271-1473.
How can I obtain transcripts or letters of recommendations if I do not have access to my DMU email address or Pulse?
You can place transcript or letter of recommendation requests from the Registrar’s website – www.dmu.edu/Registrar.
