Fix - Pages are cut off when Printing
Modified on: Wed, Jan 8 2025 1:36 PMBehavior:
When printing, like PDFs or Excel files, the page size is not correct and pages are printing cut off.
This has been happening after migrations to new laptops/computers. The fix is easy enough, you'll need to install the printer using a slightly different path (known as the FQDN).
Status: Workaround
We still don’t quite understand why this affecting some users and not others. We have a good working idea but we are not yet able to implement a fix. So we have a workaround in place. The workaround is to install the Xerox_Printers queues (8025) and/or Staff_Printers_Xerox queue (3200) by using the FQDN name. Using those print queues will resolve the issue.
Requirements:
- DMU issued, Domain Joined, Windows
- Network must be on campus or on VPN.
Steps:
- Click your START button and type \\print.dmu.edu (8025) or \\printers.dmu.edu (3200) and press Enter
- Find the printer/queue that you need Xerox_Printers (8025) or Staff_Printers_Xerox (3200) and Double-Click to install it.
- Once installed you will see the print queue window open.
- Click the File menu and Set as Default (if prompted about Windows managing your printer, click OK to make the change).
