Updating Global Protect VPN
Effective: 8/9/24
Scope: All DMU employees
There is an available update to the Global Protect VPN client. This article will walk you through the expected behavior.

Current version supported: 6.1.4-711
Windows and MacOS steps below.
Windows:
1. Connect to VPN as normal (If you are already connected, the update will prompt when you connect next time).
2. You will see a prompt for an update. Click Download.
3. Follow any prompts that you are presented with to continue with the install.
- As it installs you may see black command prompt windows pop up and disappear, this is normal.
Once done, the Global Protect icon will return in the system tray (by the clock on your taskbar).
Now let's verify the correct version is installed.
4. Click the Global Protect VPN icon.
5. Click the Menu button > Settings > About.
6. Verify your version matches the Currently Supported Version noted at the top of the article.
- If it does not, it may not have completed the install yet, give it a few minutes and check again.
MacOS:
1. Connect to VPN as normal (If you are already connected, the update will prompt when you connect next time).
2. You will see a prompt for an update. Click Download.

3. Click Install and Follow any prompts that you are presented with to continue with the install.
4. The app will close and reopen when done.
Verify your version matches the Currently Supported version listed above.
5. Click the icon on the Menubar > click the Menu > Settings > About
