[ITS Information] Upgrading to Windows 11
Windows 11 is available now for Individual Use laptops as a manual update.
Open training sessions have been scheduled. Add one to your calendar today!
Each session will include a 15 minute presentation on how to upgrade and common issues, followed by open time for questions.
Windows 11 is Microsoft’s latest operating system. It brings user interface and performance improvements including a revamped Task Bar, Start Menu File Explorer, and Context Menu (Right Click Menu).
Microsoft Windows 10 will officially be end of life on October 14th, 2025, and all managed DMU computers must be upgraded by November 11th, 2025, to stay current with critical updates and security patching.
On Tuesday August 5th, 2025, ITS will be making Windows 11 available as a manual update for individual use computers. During this update window, you can choose to install Windows 11 when it is convenient for you.

Starting Wednesday October 1st, 2025, the upgrade to Windows 11 will be required and will be delivered as part of your regular Windows Updates. The required update will be rolled out in small groups each week between October 1st and November 10th. You will be notified in advance of the week your laptop will receive the update.
Special use computers – ITS will be reaching out to those responsible for special use computers including utility, lab/research, and kiosk computers to discuss upgrading to Windows 11.
