Solutions Hub Smart Lockers: How to Log in to Checkout Laptops
Loaner Laptops are available at the Solutions Hub for either long term checkout or short term checkout (available in the smart lockers). Below is a guide on how to login to the Checkout Laptops with your DMU account as well as a couple troubleshooting tips and tricks. 1. You will need to confirm that the computer is connected and on the right internet/network. To check this, click the "Wi-Fi" Button in the bottom right that looks like a wireless signal. If it is not connected the icon may appear as a globe with a small circle with a slash through it. See the example below. If it is not connected to the "DMU" network, you will need to select DMU under network connections and hit connect. If it connects to "DMU" or you have an ethernet connection, go ahead and skip Step 2, and go to Step 3. 2. You will then get a prompt to type in your SSO username and password, normally your first initial and last name for faculty and similar for students but with a number at the end. (Examples: John Smith would be "jsmith" as faculty/staff and "jsmith79" as a student.) The Prompt should look similar to this below. If it fails to connect after you put your login in, try adding "BEDROCK\" before your username. If it fails after that, please contact the Solutions Hub for further assistance. 3. Once the network icon says "Connected, secured" you can then login to the laptop with your username and password by selecting the "Other User" Option in the bottom left of the screen If you are unable to log into the laptop with your username, please contact the "Solutions Hub" in person, by email at SolutionsHub@dmu.edu, or if after hours through our 24/7 support line (515) 271-1522. Additional helpful tips - If you are using a checkout laptop at a docking station on campus, connecting the USB-C from the dock to the computer's USB-C connector on the right side, will provide a wired ethernet connection to the DMU internet allowing for you to login without using steps 1 or 2. This will also allow you to utilize the monitors, mouse, and keyboard in the workspace.
