Application Overview: Microsoft Copilot Chat
Microsoft Copilot Chat is an AI-powered conversational assistant designed to help you with a wide range of tasks and is a great option to experiment with Generative AI. Whether you need information, support, or assistance with productivity-related activities, Copilot Chat is here to provide meaningful and engaging conversations. It can synthesize information from the web, offer support, complete tasks, and much more. Click here to access Microsoft Copilot Chat What You Can Do with Copilot Analyze data: Copilot can Analyze data uploaded from a document or added to the chat window. You can ask things like “Show totals by category over time,” or “Build a table that compares two data points” Answer Questions: Whether it's about current events, science, history, or any other topic, Copilot can provide information and insights. Creative Writing: Need help with writing a story, poem, or even brainstorming ideas? Copilot is here to assist. Entertainment: From recommending movies and books to playing games, Copilot can make your free time more enjoyable. Generate an image: Copilot can generate images from your prompts. If you can think of it, Copilot can create it. Learning and Education: Copilot can explain concepts, help with homework, and provide resources for learning new skills. Productivity Tasks: Copilot can assist with scheduling, reminders, drafting emails, and more to help you stay organized. Prepare for meetings: Copilot can help create a meeting agenda. Review your writing: Copilot can review your writing and make suggestions for improvement. Summarize documents: Copilot can summarize an uploaded document or pull out key information on a topic. Availability and Limitations Availability: Microsoft Copilot Chat is available to all Students, Faculty, and Staff with a DMU Account. Limitations: File Size limitations File upload is limited to a file size of 1MB or smaller with a maximum of 5 uploads per day. Data Restrictions: When logged in with your DMU account your data is used to provide personalized responses and improve your experience, but it is not used for AI training purposes. No PHI should be entered, but other Confidential or Sensitive data is OK to enter. Exercise caution and scrub data when possible. When NOT logged in with your DMU Account, Copilot Chat relies solely on publicly available information and your direct inputs. Your inputs are not used for AI training purposes. No Confidential or Sensitive data should be entered. Training and Resources Training: Some of the training linked below may reference features only available in Microsoft 365 Copilot and not Copilot Chat including but not limited to Copilot in Office applications and sharing AI agents. Guide: The Differences between Copilot Services
The Copilot brand is now widely used across all Microsoft products. This can make it difficult to understand the differences between Copilot offerings. Below is a simple guide on the different Copilot offerings and their functions. Microsoft Copilot Chat (Available to all Students, Faculty, and Staff with a DMU Account) An AI-powered conversational assistant similar to Chat GPT, designed to help you with a wide range of tasks and is a great option to experiment with Generative AI. Available Here. Microsoft 365 Copilot (Currently being tested at DMU) Copilot integrated into your office apps. This version of Copilot also increases file size and quantity limits in Microsoft Copilot chat. Copilot in Windows The Microsoft 365 Copilot app Has replaced the Office 365 app in Windows. You can search for the Copilot App in your start menu and right click to pin it to your task bar. Microsoft Copilot chat is available right from the app by clicking the Copilot button on the left navigation menu. GitHub Copilot GitHub Copilot is an AI-powered pair programmer developed by GitHub (owned by Microsoft) in collaboration with OpenAI. It assists developers by providing autocompletions and code suggestions while they write code. Power Platform Copilot Microsoft offers Power Platform Copilot for low-code/no-code development tasks in Power Automate and Power Bi. These AI options provide suggestions and answer questions for app development and analysis. Copilot Pro for personal accounts Similar to the features in Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft sells access to Copilot for a monthly fee to private individuals. Additional "Copilot" Tools In addition to the tools listed above, Copilot helpfully says that Microsoft also offers: Copilot Studio: A dashboard for data tracking and managed integration with third-party solutions like Workday and ServiceNow. Copilot for Sales: Empowers sales professionals with AI assistance. Copilot for Service: Designed for role-based service tasks. Microsoft Security Copilot: Helps protect at machine speed and scale.
