Recording with the Lightboard in E4400D2
Prepare the room and system before following the directions for each use case:
- Press both On buttons on the end of the lightboard to turn on the lightboard lights and the camera and recording equipment.
- Adjust the height of the lightboard using the controls on the right side end.
- Turn off the room’s ceiling lights before recording to prevent unwanted reflections on the lightboard glass.
Use Case #1 – Recording with the Camera and Lightboard (No PowerPoint or Overlay Content)
- If you wish to display notes on the "flex" monitor, connect the unlabeled HDMI cable to your laptop.
Note: The content displayed on this screen will NOT be included in the recording.
- Insert USB drive (8 GB or larger is recommended) into the Revolution Lightboard's device.
- Wait about 3 seconds for light by red button to start pulsing.
- Press button to start recording. (Light turns solid.)
- To stop: press the red button, wait about 3 seconds for the light to start pulsing.
- Remove USB drive
Use Case #2 – Recording the Lightboard with PowerPoint or Overlay Images.
Note: While using the Overlay connection, avoid wearing black clothing, as any solid black color will be removed from the video image.
- Connect the HDMI cable labeled OVERLAY to your laptop.
- Make sure your laptop display is "Duplicating" onto the left-side confidence monitor. If your laptop defaults to "Extended" display, press Windows key + P on your laptop keyboard and select Duplicate.
- Open slide deck (PowerPoint).

When preparing a slide deck, the background must be set to solid black, and text must utilize other colors (recommend primarily white). Click here to check out the vendor provided templates.
- Maximize your presentation to full screen (presentation mode).
- Insert USB drive (8 GB or larger is recommended) into the Revolution Lightboard's device.
- Wait about 3 seconds for light by red button to start pulsing.
- Press button to start recording. (Light turns solid.)
- To stop: press the red button, wait about 3 seconds for the light to start pulsing.
- Remove USB drive
Use Case #3 – Recording a Zoom Session (via Zoom Cloud) using only the Lightboard and Camera.
Note: The lightboard system will not be used to record.
Follow the steps below to configure the lightboard devices within the Zoom call.
- Connect the unlabeled HDMI cable and the USB cable labeled LIVE to your laptop.
- Connect to the Zoom call and ensure the following devices are selected:
- Microphone: Microphone (Blackmagic Design)
- Speaker: Speakers (Use your own laptop speakers or headphones. Device name may vary)
- Camera: Blackmagic Design
Note: Image may appear mirrored on your laptop when using Zoom. Zoom participants and the Zoom recording will display correctly. Use the confidence monitor for an accurate view or go into Zoom videos settings and uncheck option for "Mirror my video".
- Share any additional content.
- If you want your session recorded, ensure that you are recording to the Zoom Cloud.
Use Case #4 – Recording a Zoom Session (via Zoom Cloud) using the Lightboard and Camera with PowerPoint or Overlay Images
Note: The lightboard system will not be used to record.
