Overview: Accounts and Identity Services
A DMU User ID is created for all students, faculty, staff, and some affiliates of Des Moines University. An existing DMU User ID will never be reassigned or transferred to another person. Using roles and custom roles, our identity and access management systems allows fine-tuned access to particular campus technology and computing resources.
Students may access certain resources, faculty may access others, and administrative staff may access yet a different set of resources. Outside consultants and collaborators may also be eligible for particular computing resources.
ITS staff work to ensure that members of the DMU community have access only to the systems they need — no more, no less.
YOUR ONLINE IDENTITY AT DMU
New students arriving at DMU receive an encrypted email that includes a personal email address with a link and instructions on how to activate the new account.
New employees arriving at DMU receive temporary credentials from a supervisor. Employees are required to change their password immediately, answer a security question, and enroll at least one device for 2-step verification. We recommend completing the activation from a computer. Additional security policy information, links to 2-step verification setup, and more are available on the Information Security page.
