Modified on: Fri, Sep 13 2024 9:45 AM

This article will walk you through using Attendance software interface and options.

Dedicated attendance computers are available for checkout from the Solutions Hub and/or can be issued to users/department for long term use if determined it is needed.

Interface:

The main screen has 4 items

A.  Scan Badge box: This is where badge numbers are entered, either manually or using a reader.

B.  Records/Logs: All badge entries and comments with corresponding time stamps.

C.  Comment box:  Text box used to add manual comments and save them to the log.

D.  Counter:  Running count of how many badge entries (not comments) have been logged in the active session.

Comment box:

Comments can be to add any information relevant to your scenario or event.
For example:

  • Student forgot their badge, you can log their name.
  • Badge isn't recognized, but you can enter the name of the person.
  • Use it to say hi to your future-self.
  • Enter whatever text you want!  (full disclosure that anything entered will be saved and others can view it)

Scanning Badges:

  1. Power on the Attendance computer.  It should automatically boot up, log in, and load the main attendance page.
(if Windows requires a login, it should be labeled on the computer)
  2. Connect the Badge Reader (if applicable)
  3. Swipe the badge near the reader; it should beep
  4. Confirm in the log.  The badge number should appear momentarily in the Scan Badge box (A) and then show up in the Log (B)

Reports:

To obtain a report of the logs, follow the instructions located here: https://dmu.freshservice.com/support/solutions/articles/14000051445

Troubleshooting:

No Network Connection

Reboot the computer/device

Badge reader not beeping

Disconnect and reconnect the reader and/or reboot the computer/device

Reader beeps but nothing happens

Most likely caused by the Scan Badge box losing "focus."  Using touchpad, move the mouse the Scan Badge box and left-click.

Badges not recognized This will show in the log as unidentified.  ITS can help identify this badge or you can enter a comment if you know who it is.
