Application Overview: Adobe Acrobat DC
Adobe Acrobat DC allows users to view, create, manipulate, print and manage files in Portable Document Format (PDF). Be aware all DMU computers come with Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is a free version of the application that allows the ability to View, Print, Sign, Annotate, and Search PDFs. If you need to Edit or Create PDFs you will need to contact the Solutions Hub to request to have Adobe Acrobat DC installed. Adobe Acrobat 2020 – Quick Start Guide
This guide will assist you in the following functions: Creating PDFs from pre-existing documents. Adding pages to a PDF. Manipulating content in a PDF. Creating fillable forms. Start by opening Adobe Acrobat 2020 from the start menu or from your desktop. It is important to make sure you are launching Adobe Acrobat 2020 and NOT Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. Both products look the same, but Acrobat Reader has fewer features. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat 2020, click here to request it. Creating PDFs from Pre-Existing Documents From the Tools page choose Create PDF. Follow the prompts on the page to choose the document(s) you would like to create the PDF from (.doc, .xlsx, .txt, etc.). Click Create. Adding Pages to a PDF From the Tools page choose Combine Files. Click Add Files. Select the original file, as well as the file that contains the page you would like to add to the original. Click Open. Click Combine. It may take a moment for the pages to be converted to a PDF. Once finished, go to the Tools page and choose Organize Pages. From here you can: Delete unwanted pages. Rotate pages. Change the order of pages. Insert additional pages. At any point you can use the save button to save your changes. Edit a PDF From the Tools page choose Edit PDF. You can edit any of the text items on the PDF by selecting the item and using the editing tools on the right side of the screen. You can do any of the standard editing functions such as font type/size, alignment, and spacing. Additional functions include: Add Text Add Image Link Crop Pages Add/Update/Remove Header and Footer Add/Update/Remove Watermark Add/Update/Remove Background Add/Remove Bates Numbering Add Bookmark Attach File Add Article Box Creating Fillable Forms From the Tools page choose Prepare Form. Choose any of the available form items to add to your PDF. These items include: Add Text Fillable text fields Checkboxes Radio buttons List of choices Drop down list Buttons Images Date fields Digital signatures Barcodes After adding any of these items to your PDF right click on them and select Properties for additional customization options. Create Digital Signature - Adobe Acrobat
This will walk you through creating a simple digital signature in Adobe Acrobat Pro or Reader. Considerations: The signatures created in the following steps are not secure and not easily verifiable. The steps outlined below are using the Windows (PC) version of Adobe. 1. Click the Signature Box on the PDF form 2. Click the Configure DigitalID button 3. Select "Create a new Digital ID" and click Continue 4. Select Save to File and click Continue 5. Fill out the information and click Continue 6. Click Browse and select your OneDrive or other save location, create/confirm a password, and click Save 7. Select the signature you want to use and click Continue 8. Review the Signature, enter the password, and click Sign (you have the option to lock the document after signing) 9. Save the PDF

Solution: Acrobat Pro - Sign In Prompt
Is Adobe Acrobat 2020 prompting you to sign in? You can resolve this by Uninstalling and Reinstalling Adobe Acrobat 2020. *You must be on Campus or VPN to complete these steps. Click START Type Software Center and press Enter In Software Center, find Applications (left menu) In Applications, find the Adobe Acrobat Pro 2020 and click it. Click Uninstall. This will take about 10-15 minutes to finish and may prompt for a reboot when complete. - Once complete, clicking on Adobe Acrobat Pro 2020 in software center will not provide the option to Install. When you see it say Install (not uninstall) reboot your computer if you were not previously prompted. After reboot, repeat these steps but choose Install. - This will take about 10-15 minutes. After the install attempt to open Adobe Acrobat Pro. If you are still prompted with sign in contact the Solutions Hub.

Adobe Acrobat - Troubleshooting
This Article provides some common issues and their resolutions for Adobe Acrobat. Unable to Print to PDF - DMU Employees If you encounter an issue with printing to PDF or if printing to PDF outputs a text or other incorrect file. 1. Open Software Center 2. Find the version of Adobe you have installed. Most commonly this will be adobe reader. 3. select the application and choose the option to repair. 4. Restart your computer and then attempt to Print to PDF. Sign in Required Prompt comes Up when Opening Adobe - DMU Employees If you encounter a sign in prompt when opening Adobe. Perform the following steps. 1. Open Software Center 2. Find the version of Adobe you have installed. Most commonly this will be adobe reader. 3. select the application and choose Uninstall. 4. Restart your computer. 5. Open Software Center 6. Find the adobe Application again. 7. Select install 8. After installation is complete reboot your PC. 9. Open Adobe and ensure it is no longer asking for sign in.

Install Adobe Acrobat Pro 2020
This article will walk you through installing Adobe Acrobat Pro 2020. This requires the following to be true: You are using a DMU issued, domain joined computer. You are connected to the on campus network or connected through VPN You have contacted the Solutions Hub and had a license assigned to you or your computer. Windows PC Install: 1. Click your START button and type Software Center and press Enter 2. Click Applications and click Adobe Acrobat Pro 2020 and click Install The program will then be downloaded and installed automatically. This is a large download and can take 15 minutes or more when using VPN. When completed you will see the icon on your desktop and the Install button will change to Uninstall.

Solution: For the Best Experience, Open this PDF Portfolio in Acrobat X
Symptoms: When viewing a PDF on a website with an embedded viewer, the PDF displays the message "For the Best Experience, Open this PDF Portfolio in Acrobat X or Adobe Reader X or Later". Cause: This can happen when the uploaded adobe document is saved as a PDF portfolio. This is common when combining PDF files or saving emails as PDFs using the Adobe Plug In. PDF portfolios only display their cover document in web embedded PDF viewers. The get Adobe Reader Now! screen is the default portfolio cover sheet. Solution: To ensure your document can be read by web embedded PDF viewers make sure it is saved as a standard PDF document and not a portfolio. For PDF Files combined in Adobe Acrobat Pro. From the combine PDF tool window, selection the options button. From the Options Menu ensure "Save as PDF Portfolio" is not checked. Click Ok. Combine your PDF Files and save your new combined document. For PDFs created from Emails using the Adobe Plug in In Outlook choose the acrobat add in menu On the Acrobat add in menu choose change conversion settings. Uncheck output portfolio. Now PDFs saved using the Adobe Acrobat Plug in will save and standard PDFS and not Portfolios.

Solution: Adobe Fails to Create a PDF When Printing to PDF From Office Applications
Issue: Adobe fails to create a PDF when printing to PDF from office applications. You may receive an error log document with the message "Aptos not found, using Courier." Here are the steps to resolve this issue. Open Printers and scanners settings console. Open the start menu and type Printers & scanners Select Printer & Scanners system settings Find and select the Adobe PDF Printer Choose Printing Preferences. Solution: Adobe Acrobat is not the Default Application for PDF files
Another application may take over as your default for opening .pdf files due to an update or software change. To restore Acrobat to your Default .pdf application; Click start and type “Default” without the quotes. Select choose default apps by file type. Scroll down to .pdf Click the icon to change the default application. Choose your installed version of Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Acrobat 2020. PDF files should now show the Adobe icon and open directly in Acrobat.
